World's Best Neurosurgery Program
We are proud to announce that the neurosurgery service at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian has been ranked #1 in the world by Newsweek magazine.
The 2022 World's Best Specialized Hospitals is based on a global survey of over 40,000 medical professionals from ten specialties. This data, collected from June to August 2021, asked participants to recommend and rank hospitals based on their expertise in one primary medical field (e.g. neurosurgery for neurosurgeons). They were also able to choose an optional secondary area of expertise. Out of 125 hospitals, Columbia and Cornell topped the list as the best neurosurgery service in the world.
“This is a wonderful recognition of the world-class patient care we provide,” said Dr. E. Sander Connolly, chair and neurosurgeon-in-chief at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. “We have access to top experts in every discipline needed to support our neurosurgery patients, allowing us to provide comprehensive care on a highly individual basis. This is an honor to our department as well as to our partners across town at Weill Cornell Medicine.”
Congratulations to both teams on being #1 neurosurgery service in the world, #2 in the nation, and #1 in New York!
