Faculty leaders to present on cervical spine surgery, spinal deformity, and spine tumor care

Columbia Neurosurgery is proud to participate in Spine Summit 2026, a premier international conference dedicated to advancing spine surgery through evidence-based education, innovation, and collaboration. The meeting will take place February 26–March 1, 2026, in Phoenix, Arizona, bringing together leading spine surgeons, researchers, and trainees from around the world.

This year, Columbia faculty will serve in prominent educational and scientific leadership roles, contributing to high-level discussions on cervical spine surgery, spinal deformity, and spine tumor management.

 


Advancing Cervical Spine Surgery Education

Andrew K. Chan, MD, Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery, will serve as Course Director and Moderator for a special course focused on improving safety and outcomes in complex cervical spine procedures.

Beyond Limits in Cervical Spine Surgery: Elevating Safety and Quality

This in-depth course will highlight advanced cervical spine techniques, strategies to enhance surgical safety, and evidence-based approaches that translate directly to the operating room.

 


Translating Research Into Spine Deformity Care

Dean Chou, MD, Spine Chief and Vice Chair of Neurological Surgery, will serve as a Moderator for a session examining how large-scale research continues to shape modern spine deformity surgery.

Translating Evidence to Action: How ISSG Research Has Evolved My Practice of Spine Deformity Surgery

The session will explore how data-driven insights inform surgical decision-making, planning, and long-term outcomes for patients with complex spinal deformities.

 


Expert Debate on Spine Tumor Surgery

In addition to his moderating role, Dr. Chou will also participate as a Presenter in a focused abstract debate on contemporary spine tumor management.
